The Silent Whispers

So, I have a confession to make (whispers: " I am not an English Lit Major")

In fact, the most intensive literature analysis I have had to do was in high school for IB English and in my two university Spanish literature courses.

Nonetheless, I do like to analyze books critically and I wish to explain how I plan to rate and write reviews.

  1 Star: I didn't like it. The one star rating is reserved for books, I really didn't like, mostly due to poor writing or plot. Eg. Si tu me dices ven lo dejo todo pero dime ven by Albert Espinosa.

 2 Stars: It was under-average or slightly underwhelming. In this case, the book is not straight from a horror movie but it remains underwhelming. Perhaps the characters were underdeveloped or the plot was lacking. Basically, it didn't meet my expectations.

3 Stars: It was average. This book was okay. It didn't wow me but it was not terrible. It was just plain okay. The character development was good enough but the story may not have resonated with me.
Eg. The Day I Ate Everything I Wanted and Other Small Acts of Liberation by Elizabeth Berg.

4 Stars: I like this book a lot. This book had a good character development, plot, writing style, literary elements. It is pretty darn enjoyable both as a means of literary analysis and for pleasure. I would highly recommend it. Eg:

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, by Mark Haddon.

5 Stars: It is a new favorite. Most books will be in the four to five star rating if they are really good. If I gave them a full five stars, it means that I now think of them as an all-time favourite. That is, this book and I really hit it off.

Eg: 1984 by George Orwell.

Finally, before I wrap up a quick word on how I plan to organize reviews.

I will basically divide my review into three sections, what I liked, what I disliked, why I rated it the way I did (hopefully, I mention this) and to whom I would recommend this book.
